Concealed Carry

SMPD Employment

St. Matthews is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. The employment philosophy of St. Matthews stresses the need to employ and promote the best qualified person to do a job.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must have 3 years of police experience and meet, or have the ability to meet, the requirements of the Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) Act administered by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.

SMPD Citizens Academy

The Citizens’ Police Academy provides an opportunity to educate the public on the police services and procedures employed by the St. Matthews Police Department. The Citizens Police Academy is an 8-week program designed to provide better understanding between citizens and the police through education.
